Table for checking children&
039;s table is used. It contains printed letters of the Russian alphabet: Sh, B, M, N, K, I, Y.
They are placed in 12 lines in the order of reduction. In the upper line is only two letters: SH and B.
The lowest one is 8, with the letter M repeating itself twice.
Photo 2. A fragment of the Sivtsev table containing letters; used to check the vision of children who know the alphabet.
On the one hand, the distance from which a healthy person can read each line is indicated. So, for the second line – it is 25 m, and for the tenth – 5 m. If the distance is less than this, it is divided into the specified ones to get the visual acuity index.
If the child sees the tenth line of not from 5 meters, but only from 2.5, then the visual acuity (V) is equal to 0.5. For a visually impaired patient, the coefficient should be 1.0.
The two bottom lines are used to determine hyperopia.
The baby is placed on a chair and closes each eye in turn before checking. The doctor uses a pointer to let you know what letter the patient should name.
Help! School-age children, especially those who already have visual impairments, tend to remember the letters in the Sivtsev table and their location. If necessary, the ophthalmologist can use a other table to check.
It is important that the table is well lit and that the child does not spend more than 3 seconds to recognize each character. The ophthalmologist makes sure that the child does not squint or lean towards the stand with the table
