Nemozole is the Indian trade name for albendazole, which is the most universal antihelminthic drug to date.
Although Nemozole leads sales of all albendazole-based antihelmintics, there is always the possibility that it will not be in the pharmacy, so the patient may need an analogue of this drug. Let's consider all commercially available analogues of Nemozole.
Analogues of Nemozole on the active ingredient
Nemozole is an Indian helminthic drug produced by the pharmaceutical company Ipca Laboratories in the following forms:
- Chewing pills with 400 mg of albendazole, 1 tablet in a pack. The average price is 185 rubles.
- Pillars coated with film coating, with 400 mg of albendazole, 1 tablet in a pack. Average price – 165 rubles.
- Suspension with concentration of albendazole 100 mg/5 ml, 20 ml in a bottle. The average price is RUB 180.
All other drugs with albendazole as an active ingredient are available on the territory of the former Soviet Union:
- Sanoxal. Produced by the Indian pharmaceutical company Protech Biosystems in the form of chewing tablets of 400 mg each. The average price of a pack with 1 tablet is 205 rubles. Although it is possible to replace Nemozole with Sanoxal, it is advisable only in the absence of the latter, because Sanoxal is more expensive than Nemozol and absolutely all its analogues.
- Helmodol-VM. Produced by the Egyptian pharmaceutical company World Medicine in the form of 200 mg film-coated tablets. The average price of a pack with 2 tablets is 200 rubles. Although one tablet is almost twice as cheap as Nemozole, a second tablet will not be needed to treat most common helminthiasis, so you won't be able to save money on this drug. In addition, it is rarely found in Russian pharmacies.
- Helmadol. A full copy of Helmodol-VM. Practically not found in Russia, but sold in many pharmacies in Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. The price of the tutu in translation to Russian rubles is much cheaper than that of Helmodol-VM – about 165 rubles.
- Zentel (from GlaxoSmithKline). Manufactured by the British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline in the form of a suspension in 10-millilitre bottles with a concentration of 400 mg/10 ml of albendazole and in the form of 400 mg film-coated tablets. The drug is seldom found in Russia, it is sold mainly in Ukraine and Belarus. The average price of a bottle of suspension in translation to Russian rubles – 110 rubles, packs with 1 tablet – 95 rubles.
- Zentel (from Farmaclair). Produced by French pharmaceutical company Farmaclair in the form of suspension in 10-milliliter bottles with concentration of albendazole 400 mg/10 ml. Like the British Zentel, this antihelminthic is sold mainly in Ukraine and Belarus. The average price of a bottle in translation to Russian rubles is 90 rubles.
- Albenzol. Produced by Indian pharmaceutical company Bafna Pharmaceuticals in the form of chewing tablets of 400 mg each. The average price of a pack with 3 tablets in translation to Russian rubles is 160 rubles.
- Informed. Produced by the British pharmaceutical company Mili Healthcare in the form of a suspension in 10-milliliter bottles with a concentration of albandazole 200 mg/5 ml and in the form of chewing tablets of 400 mg each. In Russia Vormil practically does not meet, however is the most popular and sold trade name of albendazole in Ukraine. The average price of a bottle in translation to Russian rubles – 110 rubles, the price of a tutu with 3 tablets – 140 rubles, the price of a tutu with 1 tablet – 70 rubles. It should not be confused with Nurse on the basis of albendazole and Nurse Fito (capsules and syrup) on the basis of 13 plant components. The second drug has also received good reviews, is ideal for children, but has a smaller spectrum of action (for example, can not help in any way with neurocysticercosis or echinococcosis).
- Angelmex. It is made by the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company Open Company “Agrofarm” in the form of chewing tablets on 400 mg. Sold only in Ukraine. The average price of a pack with 3 tablets in translation to Russian rubles is 120 rubles.
- Aldazol. It is produced by the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company PJSC “Kyiv Vitamin Plant” in the form of tablets of 400 mg each, covered with film coating. This inexpensive generic is almost not imported to Russia, but it is found in most pharmacies in Ukraine and less frequently in Belarus. The average price of a pack with 3 tablets in translation to Russian rubles is 120 rubles.
- Pharmox. Produced by the Ukrainian pharmaceutical factory Vishpha in the form of suspension in 10-milliliter bottles with concentration of albendazole 400 mg/10 ml. The drug is sold exclusively in Ukraine. The average price of a bottle translated into rubles is 40 rubles, which makes it one of the cheapest drugs along with Angelmex, Angelmin and Aldazol.
- Angelmin. Like Angelmex, it is produced by Agropharm LLC. Completely identical to Angelmex, but for an unknown reason it is much cheaper – about 85 rubles. This is the cheapest analogue of Nemozole among the existing ones, but not inferior in any way to Indian or Egyptian drugs, taking into account the price of one pill of about 28 rubles.
The use of any of the above drugs instead of Nemosol is allowed even without the consent of a physician, as any drug is subject to strict quality control and the cost of its effectiveness is not affected in any way.
Nevertheless, counterfeiting is rampant in all post-Soviet countries, so the best way to avoid buying chalk or starch pills is to buy them in large pharmacies that value their reputation and are regularly checked by Roszdravnadzor.
There is no less, if the doctor has prescribed a Nemozole suspension (especially if the patient is a child), it is better to choose the suspension as a substitute, because it has a number of advantages over the pills.
Group analogues of Nemozole
Group analogues of Nemozole are all antihelmintics and protozoic drugs with a similar effect, but with other active ingredients.
- Mebendazole. Available under the trade names Vermox, Warmian and Agelmin. The drug has received good reviews for its high efficiency and versatility with less toxicity than albendazole. Nevertheless, mebendazole is useless for giardiasis, microsporidiosis, cysticercosis and opistorchosis, against which albendazole is effective. The average price for the example of Vermox is 95 rubles per 6 tablets.
- Levamizol. Produced under the trade names of Decaris, Levamizol and Levamizol-Health. Feedback from those who have been treated suggests that the toxicity of the drug is extremely high, which is confirmed by a ban on its sale in Europe, Canada and the United States. Used for the treatment of enterobiasis, ascaridosis, necathorosis, ankylostomosis, trichocephalosis, strongyloidosis, trichotrongyloidosis and toxoplasmosis. The average price on the example of Dekaris is 75 rubles.
- Pirantel. Available under the trade names of Pyrantel and Helmintox. The drug, as evidenced by reviews, is well tolerated even by young children, and therefore it can be used as a less harmful substitute for Nemosol or Vermox in preventive deworming. Pyrantel is effective against the five most common helminthiasis: enterobiasis, ascaridosis, trichocephalosis, necathorosis and ankylostomosis. The average price on the example of Pyrantel is 30 rubles for 3 tablets or 35 rubles for 15 ml of suspension.
- Piperazine adipinate. Adipinate and Piperazine under the trade names of Piperazine. The domestic and most harmless analogue of Nemozole from synthetic preparations can be used even for treatment of infants. However, it is also the least universal of modern antihelminthics, as it is effective only in ascariasis and enterobiasis. The average price on the example of Piperazin is 20 rubles per 10 tablets.
- Praziquantel. Available under the sole trade name of Biltrikid, although with the correct calculation of the dose you can use a veterinary analogue of Azinox. It is a toxic drug that cannot be taken for prophylactic purposes. Among the indications coinciding with albendazole are only opistorchosis and cysticercosis. The average price of the Biltrikid is 410 rubles per 6 tablets.
- Metronidazole. Available under the trade names Metronidazole, Trichopole, Metrogil, Flagil, Klion, Bacemex, Rosamet, Rosemetz, Rosex and Efloran. It is a drug of choice in the treatment of giardiasis – he has no other matches with Albendazole. The average price on the example of Trichopol is 85 rubles per 10 tablets.
- Ornidazole. Produced under the trade names Tiberal, Dazolik, Gairo, Ornishid, Ornidazol-Vero, Ornidazol and Quinisol. The second most popular anti-lambliosis drug, but extremely expensive compared to metronidazole. The average price on the example of Tiberala is 670 rubles per 10 tablets.
- Nifuratel. Available under the sole trade name of MacMyror. It is also used for the treatment of giardiasis and other protozoic diseases, but unlike Ornidazole and Metronidazole, it has almost no side effects, which justifies its high cost. The average price of McMyror is 820 rubles per 20 tablets.
- Fumagillin. Available under the sole trade name of Fumagilin-B. Although Fumagilin B is intended for the treatment of nosema in bees, it is also used instead of albendazole in human eye microsporidiosis. If other organs are affected, albendazole is used. The average price of Fumagilin is 3000 rubles per 24 g.
In case of group analogues, unauthorized replacement of drugs is extremely undesirable.
If an infectious disease specialist prescribes Sanoxal, Vormil or Nemozol, and they are not available at the pharmacy, the possibility of replacing them with Vermox or Pyrantel is better discussed with a doctor, because Nemozol has a much wider range of effects.
Nemozole is just one of eleven trade names for albendazole in Russia and the former Soviet Union, and is very expensive.
In the absence of Nemosole in pharmacies or simply an unwillingness to overpay, it can be easily replaced with any other albendazole-based antihelminthic, while spending 5-6 times less money. In addition, Nemozole may be replaced by a group analogue, i.e. another drug with identical antihelminthic or protozoic effects, but such actions require consultation with an infectious disease specialist.

Nemozole 400 is a drug used in the treatment of nematodes (parasitic diseases caused by Nematode worms). The drug has a high toxicity, so it should be used after analysis.

- The chewing tablets. Each contains 400 mg of albendazole, potato starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, crospovidone, silicon dioxide anhydrous, citric acid, pineapple flavor, magnesium stearate. Tablets are packed in blisters of 1 pc. or cardboard boxes of 1000 pcs. Each contains 400 mg of albendazole, potato starch, glycolate starch, silicon dioxide dehydrated, titanium dioxide, isopropanol, talcum, gelatin, propyl paraben, cellulose powder. The tablets are packed in contour cells of 1 pc. Cardboard box includes 1 blister and instructions.
20 ml of the drug contain:
- albendazole (400 mg);
- powder pulp;
- benzoic acid;
- sorbic acid;
- fruit flavouring;
- potassium hydrochloride;

The product has the following helminthes:
- suppresses beta-tubulin polymerization, reduces the activity of the cytoplasmic system of intestinal cells of parasitic worms;
- disrupts metabolic processes (prevents glucose assimilation);
- blocks the transport of secretory elements and other components in worm muscle cells, resulting in the death of parasites.
K albendazole is the most sensitive larval form of Echinococcus, pork chain, intestinal acne.
Active substance is slowly absorbed by the intestinal walls and is not detected in the blood as it is.
In the liver, albendazole is converted into a pharmacologically active metabolite – albendazole sulfate. The largest amount of this compound in the blood is detected after 5 hours. It penetrates into some tissues and fluids of the human body. In high concentrations, the drug is accumulated in helminth cysts.
Albendazole leaves the body in the form of metabolites with urine. The half-life takes 12 hours.
Provisions for use
The drug is used for treatment:
- parasitic lesions caused by pork chain larvae;
- Echinococcosis of the liver, lungs and abdominal wall caused by dog ribbon parasites larvae;
- nematodeous doses (ascaridosis, ankylostomosis, enterobiosis, trichocephalosis, opistorchosis, strongyloidosis);
- parasitic invasions caused by protozoa (giardiasis, microsporidiosis);
- mixed worm invasions;
- Echinococcal cysts (before and after surgery to remove lesions).
The drug is not used in case of:
- individual intolerance to albendazole or other benzimidazole derivatives;
- children (up to 6 years old).
With caution, Nemozole is taken in liver cirrhosis.

- Disturbance of hematopoietic function;
- liver failure;
- cysticercosis accompanied by retinal damage.
What determines the effectiveness of Nemozole 400
Nemozole contributes to the death and excretion of both sexually mature worms and larvae, which is associated with its high efficacy.
How to use Nemosole 400
Suspension is taken while eating. All family members should be treated at the same time. Pills are taken after meals, drinking water. Special diets and laxatives are not required.

How to give to children
Dose of the drug depends on the type of worm invasion:
- Neurocysticercosis and Echinococcosis. The single dose is set at the rate of 8 mg/kg. The drug is given to the child twice a day. They are treated within 28-30 days. If necessary, treatment is repeated.
- Lambliosis. The child is given 10 mg/kg of albendazole per day. Treatment lasts a week.
- Toxicarose. The recommended daily dose is 20 mg/kg. It is distributed over 2 applications. Duration of the therapeutic course – 1-2 weeks.
- Enterobiasis, ascariasis, ankilostomosis. The daily dose is 0.2 g. The course of treatment lasts 3 days; if necessary, it is repeated after 21 days.
Adult dose is calculated according to disease type:
- Neurocysticercosis and Echinococcosis. 400 mg each of albendazole is taken twice a day. The daily dose should not exceed 800 mg. At body weight less than 60 kg a single dose is 200 mg.
- Toxicarose. The drug is taken 200-400 mg 2 times a day.
- Enterobiosis, ascariasis, ankilostomosis. 200 mg Nemosole is taken once. In the absence of effectiveness after 21 days the procedure is repeated.
- Strongyloidosis. The recommended daily dose is 400 mg. The pills are taken for 3 days; the therapeutic cycle is repeated after 21 days.
- Lambliosis. The daily dose is 0.4 g. Treatment for 3 days.
In case of toxocarose, the daily dose of the drug for a child is 20 mg/kg.
The following undesirable consequences may occur when taking Nemosole:
- signs of digestive system disorders (liver failure with increased liver enzyme activity, nausea, vomiting, pain and heaviness in the epigastric region, liquid stools);
- Disturbance of the hematopoietic system (reduction of white blood cells, granulocytes and platelets, anemia);
- neurological disorders (dizziness, occipital and temporal pains, sleep problems, changes in taste perception);
- skin reactions (temporary baldness, urticaria-like skin rashes, itching);
- other side effects (increased body temperature, arterial hypertension, impaired kidney function, allergic reactions).
Nemozole overdose 400
High doses of albendazole increase the side effects of the digestive system. First aid includes stomach cleansing and enterosorbents.
First aid for Nemozole overdose involves the introduction of enterosorbents.
Parasitic nervous system lesions supplement the therapeutic scheme with glucocorticosteroids and anticonvulsants. This helps to avoid high blood pressure in the first weeks of treatment.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug may have a negative impact on the development of the fetus, so it is not administered to pregnant women.
In the case of lactation treatment, breastfeeding is discontinued.
Patients over 65 years of age should consider the possibility of liver and kidney disease requiring dose adjustment.

The main active substance of Nemozole is albendazole, a methyl ether of carbamic acid. There are only a few registered analogues of Nemozole: Helmodol VM, Vormil and Sanoxal with the same active substance.
Helmodol VM, Vormil and Sanoxal
Albendazole refers to synthetic helminthic drugs of wide range of action.
Its mechanism of action is associated with inactivation of glucose processing and blockade of muscle contractions, which leads to the paralysis of the parasite with its subsequent death.
After the death of the helminthes is partially digested in the intestine and naturally comes out. Nemozole and its analogues Helmodol VM, Vormil and Sanoxal are the most effective at helminthiasis caused by cestode-Ehinococcus and pork chain larvae.
Albendazole-based products are administered to patients with the following parasites:
- Pig chain in larval form that caused neurocysticercosis.
- Ehinococcus in various organs and tissues – liver, peritoneum, lungs, as well as auxiliary therapy in the surgical treatment of cysts provoked by Ehinococcus.
- Nematodes causing ascariasis, strongyloidosis, trichocephalosis, opistorchosis, ankylostomidosis, giardiasis, enterobiosis.
- Mixed forms of parasitic invasion.
Nemozole is an effective antihelminthic agent
Contraindications for the use of Nemozole and its analogues – Helmodol VM, Vormila and Sanoxala is an allergy to the components of the product, the period of childbirth and breastfeeding, as well as children under 6 years of age (studies on the toxic effects of drugs on the body of preschoolers have not been conducted, so it is better to choose other drugs).
Nemozole and analogues exhibit teratogenic properties, negatively affecting the development of the fetal bone system and causing multiple intrauterine malformations, so it is better to make sure that there is no pregnancy before starting Nemozole and analogues.
Caution is exercised in patients with impaired bone marrow function, cirrhosis of the liver, liver failure, and retinal lesions in cysticercosis. When prescribing Nemozole-based medications, the treating physician evaluates all risks and the appropriateness of the treatment and monitors the patient's condition at the time of treatment.
Side effects of albendazole-based products
Probably unpleasant side effects may occur during treatment with Nemozole and its analogues:
- Bolt in the head, dizziness attacks, meningeal signs.
- Bolt in the abdomen, dyspeptic phenomena – nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, meteorism; increased activity of liver and pancreas enzymes.
- Hypersensitivity reactions – skin rashes, itching, burning.
- Elevated body temperature and blood pressure, seizures, hallucinations.
Rarely occur alopecia, acute renal failure.
How do I take drugs?
Nemozole and analogues of Helmodol VM, Vormil and Sanoxal are taken inside, in individually selected dosage, which differs depending on the type of parasite and weight of the patient. Treatment of Echinococcosis and Neurocysticercosis: Patients with a weight of 61 kg or more are shown to take 0.4 g twice a day.
With a lower body weight the dose is calculated by the formula – 15 mg per 1 kg, divided into two doses. The maximum possible daily dose is 0.8 g.
Treatment course is 7-30 days in case of neurocysticercosis, in case of Echinococcosis it is shown to drink 3 courses of duration of 28 days with a break of two weeks between them.
Nemozole or Nurmal?
Patients and doctors are always looking for a drug that is better and faster for the pathogen.
Answer the question of which antihelminthic agent is better – Nemozole or Nurmal – very difficult, because these drugs have one active substance (albendazole).
The same active ingredient means that both drugs have the same side effects and contraindications.
